Open Source Attribution

Overview

This information consists of three parts:

  1. an introductory text
  2. a table listing the open-source components used, together with their respective licenses and copyright notices
  3. the full license texts

This introduction explains the purpose of this information and provides guidance on how to read and understand it.

Scope

This open-source attribution statement and the accompanying Attribution Table are specific to the MG4 vehicle model.

All listed software components, version numbers, licenses, and copyright information relate exclusively to the open-source software included in the MG4.

Attribution Table

The Attribution Table is designed to provide transparent and compliant disclosure of all open-source components integrated into our vehicles. It follows a concise three-column structure for clarity:

The first column identifies each open-source component along with its specific version number. Version tracking is critical, as different versions of the same component may be subject to different licensing terms or contain varying functionality.

The second column displays the applicable license(s) using SPDX identifiers—standardized shorthand codes maintained by the Linux Foundation that uniquely identify open-source licenses. This standardization ensures consistency and eliminates ambiguity across the global software development community. In cases where a component is dual-licensed or multi-licensed (meaning it can be used under different licensing options), we list all available SPDX identifiers and explicitly indicate our selected license under the "Selected" designation. This transparency allows you to understand both the available options and our licensing decisions.

Additionally, we provide a dedicated column for copyright notices, preserving the attribution to original authors and contributors as required by most open-source licenses.

Entries with a LicenseRef identifier denote licenses for which no official SPDX license identifier is available or where the license text used deviates from a standard license text (e.g. project-specific, customized, or proprietary licensing terms). Each LicenseRef entry refers to a separately documented license text, which defines the applicable rights and obligations for the use of the respective component.

License Reference Section

Following the Attribution Table, a License Appendix contains the full text of each license referenced.
Each SPDX identifier is paired with the license's full official name to facilitate quick reference and review of the governing terms and conditions.
